Boise Paper and Office Depot Help Teachers Start Proud!
At Boise Paper, we believe strong communities start with strong schools – and strong schools start with well-supported teachers. That’s why we’re proud to once again partner with Office Depot on its Start Proud! program, a back-to-school initiative designed to give educators the tools they need to create vibrant, inspiring learning environments for their students.
This year, Start Proud! surprised teachers with $20,000 shopping sprees at Office Depot. These events gave educators the chance to stock up on the supplies they need most – from notebooks and copy paper to organizational tools and cleaning supplies – while alleviating the out-of-pocket costs teachers so often carry on their own.
Together with Office Depot, Boise Paper had the privilege of supporting teacher celebrations at schools across the U.S., including:
- Pines Collegiate Academy (Pembroke Pines, Florida)
- Benefield Elementary (Lawrenceville, Georgia)
- Westcliff Elementary (Fort Worth, Texas)
- Aldridge Elementary (Richardson, Texas)
- O’Neil and Herrick Middle Schools (Downers Grove, Illinois)
According to the National Education Association, educators on average spend anywhere in between $500 and $900 of their own money on school supplies. These shopping sprees gave educators the chance to stock up on the supplies they need most, helping them prepare their classrooms without having to dip into their own pockets.
Teachers are the backbone of our schools, dedicating countless hours to creating safe, inspiring environments where students can grow and thrive. By supporting Start Proud!, Boise Paper is helping to ease their burden and celebrate their impact.
Boise Paper has been a supporter since the program’s launch in 2018. From 2018 to 2024, the Start Proud! program hosted back-to-school assemblies that inspired students and provided more than 100,000 supply-filled backpacks. Today, Start Proud! is dedicated to supporting teachers in high-need K-12 public schools, helping them create vibrant classrooms while reducing out-of-pocket costs.
